We had a few leads on houses/condos in Charleston last week so we decided to head up there on Saturday to check them out. We really like one set of condos but there aren't any available right now so we are waiting until June 1st to see if anyone will be moving out. We did make a great acquaintance though. Richard has been toting around his good racquetball racquet trying to get it restrung every time we've visited Charleston. This time he found a website with names of people who restring racquets for tennis and such, so he started to call. The first man he talked to is a lawyer and an avid tennis player. He was quite shocked to hear from Rich and especially confused by the Texas phone number. That directed the conversation to why we were here and moving. To make a long story short, he was able to restring the racquet within hours and Richard is very pleased with the work. He and Richard really hit it off well. Our new friend, Paul, began exhausting his contacts to try and help us find a place to live. We met him on Saturday and we heard from him yesterday and today about places he's seen for rent. Its nice to have an inside opinion and another member of the hunting party.
God may not have given us a house yet but He sure is making us feel more comfortable about moving.
Time to brag a little... This past week Richard had his Advanced Cardiac Life Support course. It is taught by an outside source and basically they are learning how to run a 'Mega Code' when some one flat lines in the hospital. I'm sure you can see why this was right up Richard's alley. Before he even started, he mentioned it was possible to do well enough in the course to be able to come back and teach the course. During the week I heard a few funny stories about classmates forgetting to ask for vitals or saying 500 cc's instead of 50, of course all resulting in a dead mannequin. So when Rich finally went in for his test run he was pretty nervous. They told him to slow down because he was barking orders so fast the girl writing down info couldn't keep up with him. After the asked him to leave the room, took time to deliberate, they invited him back in and told him they were giving him an IP. Rich followed with, 'Whats that?' They said 'Idiot Proof' ;) Not really it was Instructor Potential! And the next day we found out he got a perfect score on his written test to seal the deal. Now he can take the Instructor Course and start teaching!
I thought the phrasing of his IP was particularly funny because Richard's Dad told me when we got married 'Its all about Potential.' Seeing how I was about to marry a man with no job and 4 more years of schooling. :) Well Richard has plenty of it!
