Last Friday was Richard's official last day of his 3rd year program. He has been doing his rotations in conjunction with WVU's med school here in Charleston. The education and the experiences have been very good but dealing with the different grading practices and keeping up with paper work for 2 schools has been difficult. So he was very glad to be finished. He went for his final test in that program and now has about 2 weeks to prepare for his 2 Board exam. We celebrated Friday by having a Date Night. Paige spent the evening with our neighbors, Brad and Julie, who so graciously watched her while we were gone. As we left the house we tried to decide what to do. The last thing we needed was to go shopping so we had a good time playing around Best Buy. We checked out the new 3D TV's which we were not at all tempted to buy. Our dinner was lovely and it was great to enjoy an evening out together.
On Saturday, Paige and I took Richard to a baseball game. The local minor league team, WV Power, has a really nice field right down town. Its right next to one of the hospitals and my old work. The weather was great and Paige did fantastic the whole game. She loves being outside and had plenty to keep her visually occupied. She even got to show off her summer shades!
Sunday we cooked out and had friends over to celebrate Richard's first Father's Day. So far this week we are adjusting to both being in the house all day. Richard is getting his study schedule down and I'm enjoying the occasional help throughout the day. I have to keep reminding myself that he really isn't here mentally and stop trying to talk to him while he's studying.
