Summer is unfortunately over. Richard started his second year of class yesterday and I had my 1 year anniversary at work. We finished out this summer with a much needed trip home. We spent a week in super hot Texas. It was wonderful to see all of our family and friends. A HUGE thanks to those of you who traveled and made sacrifices to come see us. We did plenty of shopping, visiting, swimming, some golfing, and shooting... but most importantly eating! Our two visits to Roadhouse ought to tell you how much we missed a good Texas-size steak. Before we could head back to Lewisburg we had to sort out our luggage trouble. The 47 lbs bag with a limit of 50lbs did not leave me much packing room for the new clothes I got. Richard decided to just get a new workout bag and solved that problem. ;) By the time we arrived in WV we terribly missed our puppies. They had excellent care while we were gone. This past weekend has been filled with social events at school, new faces on campus, the WV State fair and laundry.
Sunday morning Richard had to work the blood pressure booth for the school at the Stat Fair. By the way, the fair is less than 5 minutes down the road from us, in the next town, and we live on the main route from the fair to the Interstate. Needless to say it has been and is going to be a congested week. I joined Richard at the fair after church and we spend the afternoon taking in all that is rural WV. By far the best part was watching the 'Dock Dogs.' This is a competition between dogs to see who can jump the farthest off a dock in to the water. I'm sure you've seen them on TV, but it was so much fun to be able to watch them in person. We even got to see some dogs getting trained and laugh at their poor owners trying to convince them to jump off the dock after their toys. One border Collie was about half way off trying to reach his ball but he just wouldn't jump. The most impressive jump we saw was 22 feet! That's even from the rear end of the dog. Richard is contemplating taking Baloo out on Wednesday afternoon for a training session. We'll see how it goes.
Regretfully, we had our camera at home and never took a picture and didn't have the camera at the fair when we wanted to take pictures. Sorry
