4th of July, Cow Day and Truck Trouble

For the 4th of July fireworks we went to our usual spot on top of the Hospital parking garage. Storms had been rolling in because of the heat all week, so we were very lucky to get to see them at all.
Friends joined us in the truck bed and marveled at the fact that we could see two shows at once.
We were even able to see lighting in the distance.
July 13th was Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-a! So were got our sticker packs earlier that week and were covered in spots for our free meals! This is us leaving the mall for lunch and leaving a trail of spots as we went.
MOOOOOOOO! Then our local store for dinner!
Richard got caught in a traffic accident the next week and wrecked the front of his truck. Traffic at lunch time is not fun. Paige and I were on our way from work to meet him so we were there quick to help and just glad he was alive and not hurt at all!
It was hard to believe it did enough damage to total the truck based on repair costs since no air bags went off in any car.
Assessing the damage at the body shop.
Then we got the dream... the Rental Truck. I was in love immediately!
But after a week and a lot of thought and prayer, we decided to pay the salvage cost for the truck and keep her. Richard found the parts at a local salvage yard and started to put the truck back together.
I was astounded at how the adjuster priced the repair at $5k and we were able to get the truck running with 1 day work. I say WE, but you know that's mainly Richard. I did do quite a bit of wrench turning though.
With a 'new' fender, 'new' grill, and same crushed hood, she doesn't look too bad.  You should have seen Richard and I jumping on the hood, upside down in the grass, trying to straighten it out. But now it latches and that bought us some time to price other parts and body work.
We are going to buy Richard's Aunt's Tahoe as a second dependable vehicle, so that one will be here soon. The truck has been a part of Richard's life for over 11 years and he is no where near ready to let her go.
