We arrived in Chicago with no trouble and did our best to avoid evening traffic. Good thing we were going in to downtown. The highways were stacked up all 8 lanes for at least 20 miles.
We picked up Aunt Sissy, Richard's cousin, and had dinner at Ditka's. Paige loved entertaining her!
We made it to the Allerton Hotel, right on Michigan Avenue's'Magnificent Mile.
Who doesn't love traveling when your Thirty-One bags are so stinking CUTE!
Paige approves of our room and her bed. She LOVES hotels!!!
While Richard was busy learning...
Paige and I headed to the Shedd Aquarium on recommendation from Sissy.
Paige helped me find a Taxi to get there and then for the rest of the trip she pointed out every taxi we saw. Taxis are everywhere!
Checking out the Coral Reef and the divers cleaning the tanks.
Marveling at the Jellyfish
Tiny little ones compared to Paige's hand.
My favorite part was watching the Beluga Whales. They were so gentle and playful.
Playing 'underwater'
Paige got to be a penguin and playing on the rocks. Great time for me to rest. This place was HUGE. We spent all day and didn't even see any of the shows.
Thinking about touching a starfish. She decided not to.
Our lunch time view of the city.
Gulf of Texas colorful fish
A rare blue lobster
On our way out.
We had dinner that evening with part of the TIPS group. Of course it was Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza!
The next day Paige and I hit Michigan Avenue to SHOP! I walked out of Tiffany's and was only temped. But if anyone wants to get me a present I have the perfect necklace picked out ;)
At the Chicago River
Admiring the architecture.
More shopping and a classic picture spot.
We met Aunt Sissy back up at the American Girl store. She was so sweet to get Paige her first doll, Rebecca.
Then we met Richard's Cousin, Jana and Eric. We ventured over to the Ghiradelli's shop, of course we had to snack on a Brownie Sundae!
The view from dinner at Cite on the 70th floor for Richard's Program Graduation
Afterwards we walked out the Navy Pier and watched the fireworks.
This is what you get when someone offers to take you picture. Just trust me, we looked fancy!
We had a great trip and really enjoyed getting to catch up with some family!
